About YachtCom

YachtCom is owned and operated by Bob and Claire Smith, who are very keen sailors. They established YachtCom in 2000 with purpose of offering a high level of training to yachtsmen and other boating people.
YachtCom is an RYA recognised training establishment offering RYA shore based courses and for the more adventurous yachtsmen the MCA GMDSS Long Range Certificate course. Whether you are an inshore, offshore or bluewater yachtsmen, power or sail we have a training course which meets your requirements.

The principal

The principal of YachtCom is Bob Smith, a keen sailor with over 28 years sailing experience around the UK, Mediterranean and Caribbean waters. Bob is a Commercial Endorsed Yachtmaster and RYA instructor with over 10 years teaching experience.

Before becoming a full time instructor, Bob worked for 25 years in the professional communications and radar industry for - Thorn EMI, Plessey, GEC and Siemens.
Bob has a technical background in radio and radar systems and holds a full UK amateur radio licence.
