- Plotting rules and techniques
- Plotting aids - Use of Mini Automatic Radar
Plotting Aid (MARPA), based on Raymarine C120.
- AIS - Automatic Identification System (not part
of the RYA syllabus, but we cover it)
- Use of radar as a navigation aid
- Accuracy and inaccuracies of radar.
At YachtCom we have a real Raymarine C120
navigation display unit which is used during the radar course.
We are
familiar with the Raymarine (Raytheon) Pathfinder SL70 and C/E-Series of Radar,
and the JRC Radar 1000.
What to bring If students have
another type of Radar fitted to their yachts they are encouraged to bring along
the manual.
