About YachtCom

YachtCom is owned and operated by Bob and Claire Smith, who are very keen sailors.
They established YachtCom in 2000 with purpose of offering a high level of training to yachtsmen and other boating people.
YachtCom specialises in marine radio and radar course offer the RYA Radar course, RYA Short Range Certificate and for the more adventurous yachtsmen the MCA GMDSS Long Range Certificate course.

The principal

The principal of YachtCom is Bob Smith, a keen sailor with over 40 years sailing experience around the UK, Mediterranean and Caribbean waters. Bob is a Commercial Endorsed Yachtmaster and RYA instructor with over 15 years teaching experience.

Before becoming a full time instructor, Bob worked for 25 years in the professional communications and radar industry for - Thorn EMI, Plessey, GEC and Siemens.
Bob has a technical background in radio and radar systems and holds a full UK amateur radio licence.
